Organization Overview:

Beacon Hill (also known as Beacon Hill Preparatory Institute), www.beaconhillprep.org,  is a non-profit organization that provides critical supplemental math and reading tutoring and enrichments to students in local Public & charter schools through-out Fair Park, Oak Cliff, Wilmer Hutchins, Pleasant Grove and surrounding communities. Programs include in-school, after-school, and summer programming. We ensure students Catch Up, Keep Up and Stay Ahead by developing data-informed intervention plans and supporting teachers and parents throughout the school year. Our desired outcomes are to help each student achieve grade-level proficiency in math and reading, develop confident learners, and level the playing field for all participating students.

Objective: To serve as a part-time program staff member for children in grades K-6 and support them in learning Math and Reading. After school from 2:00pm-6:30pm.

General Responsibilities:

  • Create a positive and engaging atmosphere
  • Provide individual and/or small group instruction
  • Assess and monitor student performance
  • Implement curriculum with fidelity
  • Maintain accurate record keeping
  • Assist with classroom management
  • Adhere to internal and external policies
  • Display professional behavior and dress
  • Attend program trainings and staff meetings
  • Contribute to organizational success

Education and Qualifications:

  • College degree or enrolled graduate/undergraduate student
  • Experience with school-age children may substitute for college degree/hours
  • Computer literacy and access with high-speed internet
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
  • Teacher certification (plus)
  • Bilingual (plus)

Reports to: After School Coordinator or After School Manager

Direct Reports: Volunteers

Days: 3 - 4 per week

Hours: 17.5 - 20 per week

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour 

Must complete 20 hours of volunteer training. Includes becoming Gideon Certified by online and/or onsite training at Beacon Hill Corporate & off-site campus locations.  

Travel Requirements: In-state travel to Staff Development, Professional Development, Team Building events and other locations deemed necessary as part of job responsibilities.
